How does the theory of constructivism translate into classroom practice?

The theory of constructivism has been threaded through every course that I have taken in the MET program. Initially, in my early core courses, I did not realize what a significant impact that the principles of constructivism would have on my classroom teaching practice. I have come to believe strongly in its importance to education in general as it advocates that all learners construct their own knowledge through connecting it to what they already know about the world which occurs through critically reading and thinking, sharing and discussing it with others, and personally reflecting on how their understanding is evolving. It is a learning theory whose principles can be applied to any teaching situation. At the core of constructivist is an active learner involved in hands-on and minds-on activities. E-Learning is not exempt from the application

My learning transformed in these areas:

of these principles, but is actually well-suited to constructivist practices. Experiencing constructivist learning themselves is the only way for teachers to become effective facilitators of this learning approach.
