How does the use of digital technologies encourage multi-modal communication and creativity?

The goals of media education continues to include both building technical skills and developing informed, reflective and engaged participants in understanding how media affects our culture and socialization (Hobbs & Jensen, 2009). Media education embodies several 21st century skills: thinking critically about the content and affect of media in society, developing and refining information and ICT literacy skills, encouraging citizenship, and developing a sense of personal and social responsibility (Binkley et. al, 2012). Another avenue has also developed as a result of the evolution of computing devices which are technical and order-driven machines but have become capable of creative expression. Early computing devices were not associated with creativity, but now we use them to create multimedia presentations of significant quality to express logical arguments.
